8-Step Recruiting Framework (HS Athlete)

STEP 1

Learn About Schools (Athletic + Academic + Financial)

Deliverables: position/role, measurables, GPA/test plan, target divisions/conferences, budget reality.

KPI: 80–1500 realistic programs on an initial list, spread between divisions

STEP 2

Build a One-Link Player Profile

Deliverables: short bio, measurables, verified stats, schedule, 60–90s highlight (then full game links), coach contacts, transcript.

KPI: Profile loads in <3s; coach can understand you in 30 seconds.

STEP 3

Capture Film & Update Highlights Quarterly

KPI: Highlight completion within 10 days of each showcase/tournament.

Deliverables: 1 pinned highlight + 2–3 full games; clips labeled (time/score/context).

STEP 4

Academic Readiness & Eligibility

Deliverables: core-course checklist, unofficial transcript on hand, test dates (or test-optional plan), NCAA/NAIA eligibility center started. Understand the NCAA eligibility rules.

KPI: GPA trend up or stable; no missing core courses.

STEP 5

Outreach Rhythm (Email + Form + Social DM)

Weekly cadence: 25–50 personalized emails, 6–10 recruiting forms, 3–5 respectful DMs (where appropriate).

Message formula: 1) Why them, 2) Who you are (3 bullets), 3) Film link(s), 4) Upcoming schedule, 5) Soft ask (watch/feedback/call).

KPI: ≥30% open rate; ≥10% reply rate across a month.

STEP 6

Compete Where Coaches Are (Events & Visibility)

Deliverables: seasonal event plan (showcases, camps, tournaments) chosen from your A/B lists; share schedule link with coaches 2–3 weeks ahead.

KPI: 10–20 confirmed “we’ll watch you at X” replies per season.

STEP 7

Follow-Up, Tracking, and Relationships

Deliverables: simple CRM (sheet or tool) with: school, tier, coach, last touch, next action, status, notes.

Weekly cadence: 200 follow-ups, 2 film updates, 1 gratitude/update note per active coach.

KPI: Every active coach has a scheduled “next action” date—no dead threads.

STEP 8

Visits, Offers, and Decision Process

Deliverables: questions list (role, development, scholarship, academic support, culture), parents’ checklist, financial comparison

KPI: Time-bound decision windows; written offer details stored; clear accept/decline dates.
